Make a Meaningful Difference in the Life of a Child

Arizonans for Children offers meaningful opportunities for committed community members to make a personal, positive impact in the lives of foster children and families throughout Arizona.

Whether you have a few hours each month or are looking for a long-term volunteer commitment, there is a place for you to serve.

Volunteers are the heart of our organization. More than 400 dedicated community members support our visitation centers, mentor children, and help create moments of stability, connection, and encouragement for families navigating foster care.

Tutor / Mentor Program

Our mentor program connects children in foster care with caring, consistent adults who provide encouragement, guidance, and stability through long-term relationships.

Mentee Age Range

Grades K–12

Time Commitment

Approximately 8 hours per month for a minimum of one year

What Mentors Do

  • Help with homework and educational support
  • Build social and life skills
  • Provide consistency and encouragement
  • Support confidence and self-esteem through positive relationships

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Background check required
  • Attend interview and orientation
  • Willingness to build a meaningful relationship with a foster child

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Background check required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Positive and non-judgmental attitude
  • Minimal paperwork required
