AFC offers a variety of ways for committed citizens to make a personal, positive impact in the lives of foster children. No matter what your commitment level, AFC has an opportunity for you to make a difference. Volunteers are the life blood of our organization. We have over 400 volunteers who operate the two Visitation Centers, and act as tutors/mentors.  Since inception in January 2003 –December 31, 2020 we have had 371,844 volunteer hours donated.



Our Visitation Centers need your help!

Time commitment: Flexible opportunities available
Description: Getting to see many of the same faces each week, you will maintain the relationship between AFC and the families. More specifically, your duties during the weekly shift will include: Greeting and signing in children, families, and parent aids. Keeping accurate records. Assisting families with meeting space, games, movies, etc.
Requirements: Age 18 years old, background check, able to work independently, and have a non judgmental attitude. Minimal paperwork required.

Can you make a commitment of two hours per week for a year?
There is a foster child waiting for your help.

Mentee age range: Grades K-12
Time commitment: 2 hr/wk for one (1) year minimum
Description: Help with homework, build social & life skills, provide an element of stability, and enhance a child’s self-esteem by developing a long-term personal relationship.
Requirements: Age 21 or older, H.S. diploma or equivalent, background clearance check, and the willingness to build a relationship with a foster child.
