“A bicycle represents more than a mechanical object. Bikes create magic and supply life with thrills, excitement and adventure.”

A few years ago, our Executive Director, Nikki, used Bob’s Free Bikes to help a child she met during an interview. He was an energetic 11-year-old living in foster care with his baby sister, whom he loved looking after. During their conversation, he talked nonstop about his bike. It had broken, and more than anything, he wished he could fix it so he could get back to riding to the skate park with his friends.

Nikki immediately completed the online request form, which she remembers being quick and easy, and within just a few days, his bike was ready. It was a simple act that gave him back something every child deserves – the freedom to play, explore, and just be a kid.

Bob’s Free Bikes repairs and refurbishes donated bicycles, providing them at no cost to children and teens ages 18 and under throughout the Valley. If you have a mentee who could benefit from having a bike, we encourage you to submit a request. Once the bike is ready, it can be picked up at their shop, where you’ll also have the opportunity to meet the wonderful volunteers who make this program possible.

We know that something as simple as a bicycle can provide transportation, encourage healthy activity, build confidence, and create opportunities for connection and adventure.
